About The Position

The Category Manager – Electrical is responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and lifecycle management of electrical infrastructure, components, and systems supporting manufacturing, power generation, and field operations. This role owns supplier strategy, cost optimization, technical alignment, and long-term category planning for electrical commodities. The Category Manager ensures all sourced materials meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and operational reliability standards while driving cost efficiency and supplier performance. The role partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Planning, and Procurement to ensure electrical systems and components are available, compliant, and aligned to project and operational demands.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • Daily, in person, predictable attendance in The Woodlands, TX.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field or 7+ years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Experience in Electrical procurement or category management.
  • Experience in Power generation, oil & gas, or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and infrastructure components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Deep understanding of NEC, OSHA, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven negotiation and supplier management experience.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience (Oracle preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management Own all vendor relationships for electrical & power generation commodity, ensuring strong performance and alignment to company goals.
  • Negotiate pricing agreements aligned with cost, reliability, and operational performance goals.
  • Lead supplier selection in collaboration with Operations and Engineering.
  • Track and manage vendor KPIs, service levels, compliance, and quality performance.
  • Conduct routine supplier audits in partnership with the Quality team.
  • Provide daily oversight of vendor actions, deliverables, and adherence to contractual and performance expectations.
  • Financial Stewardship & Cost Management Manage pricing agreements for all power generation and electrical components, and consumables.
  • Perform quarterly lease vs. own evaluations to drive cost-efficient decisions.
  • Manage and monitor the CAPEX budget related to power generation and electrical products, ensuring disciplined financial planning and execution.
  • Develop and maintain category strategies that support cost control, long-term value, and operational reliability.
  • Warranty Process Ownership Develop, implement, and manage the end-to-end warranty process.
  • Track all claims through investigation, submission, vendor engagement, and resolution.
  • Maximize warranty recovery to reduce overall cost of ownership.
  • Inventory, Planning & Operational Enablement Plan and manage electrical inventory levels to ensure operational uptime and meet performance targets.
  • Develop and execute inventory stocking strategies for electrical products, consumables, and cables.
  • Ensure operations are fully equipped to execute pad-level work without interruption.
  • Coordinate with Mobilization and Operations teams to support inspections, rebuilds, asset deployments, and returns.
  • Ensure failed or damaged assets are replaced or repaired in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Operational Coordination & Quality Assurance Partner with the Quality team to ensure all vendor work meets company standards for workmanship, documentation, and component traceability.
  • Support vendor evaluations and corrective action activities.
  • Facilitate communication between Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Mobilization teams to ensure alignment across processes and deliverables.
  • Other Responsibilities Maintain documentation, reports, and records required for compliance and business continuity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful operations.
