About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage electrical equipment sourcing initiatives for large-scale data center operations. The Category Manager, Electrical will develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships for critical equipment including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS/batteries, and power distribution systems. Working closely with finance, construction, and cross-functional teams, this position directly impacts the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability of data center operations. The role requires a strategic thinker who can optimize processes, manage capital budgets, and ensure timely project execution in a fast-paced environment. Travel up to 30% is expected, providing hands-on engagement with suppliers and project sites. This position is ideal for a results-driven professional with strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical category management, procurement, or similar roles in fast-paced environments
  • Experience managing large capital budgets (e.g., $800M+), ideally in construction, energy, or technology sectors
  • Proven ability to negotiate and execute complex supplier contracts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Adaptability to thrive in dynamic and fast-paced environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% as needed to support projects and supplier engagement

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies for direct and indirect electrical equipment
  • Conduct spend analysis, track performance metrics, and recommend improvements based on Total Cost of Ownership
  • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier agreements to ensure compliance with cost, schedule, and scope requirements
  • Lead supplier onboarding, selection, and integration for new and existing vendors
  • Manage equipment schedules, capital budgets, and costs to support new data center construction projects
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders to facilitate operational growth
  • Identify and implement process and system optimizations for procurement and sourcing functions
  • Support tactical execution of purchasing activities to meet routine business and project needs
