About The Position

As a Category Management intern you will assist, the category management team in optimizing the performance of a specific product category within a company by analyzing market trends, customer behavior, and sales data, supporting pricing strategies, promotions, product assortment, and supplier management, with the goal of maximizing profitability and sales within that category. Key responsibilities of a Category Management Intern might include: Data analysis: Gathering, cleaning, and analyzing sales data to identify trends, customer insights, and performance metrics within the assigned category. Market research: Conducting market research to understand competitor strategies, new product innovations, and overall market dynamics. Category strategy development: Supporting the Category Manager in developing and executing category strategies, including pricing, promotion, product assortment, and shelf space optimization. Supplier management: Collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, negotiate pricing, and manage product quality. Promotional planning: Assisting in planning and executing promotional activities for the category, including analyzing promotional effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in market research and consumer behavior
  • Basic understanding of financial analysis and profitability metrics
  • Pursing a degree in business- or business-related field
  • Some travel may be required in the great northeast area
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college in Junior or Senior year (At least 18 years of age)
  • Your degree should be business related (ie., Business Admin., Mgmt., etc.).
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

Responsibilities
