About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Category Buyer, MRO within the Procurement Department at our Corporate Headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. This role is responsible for coordinating the strategic procurement process for assigned categories, ensuring the cost-effective acquisition of goods and services across all Cleveland-Cliffs business units. The Category Buyer will also assist in developing, pricing, and maintaining supply contracts while working closely with suppliers, operations, and internal administrative teams. The ideal candidate will have a high level of organization with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and ethical standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement, commodity management or other strategic sourcing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of market trends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written

Nice To Haves

  • CPSM or equivalent certification
  • Steel Mill or Heavy Industrial/Manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Oracle, Ellipse and Tabware or other Purchasing/Sourcing systems

Responsibilities

  • Processing of requisitions for assigned categories in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop and lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories to include strategy development, Request for Proposal (RFP) development and analysis, supplier negotiations and selections/implementations, ongoing commodity management, and contract compliance
  • Participate in developing detailed sourcing strategies for a broad set of indirect categories to drive cost-savings initiatives
  • Ensure all procurement practices align with company policies, standards, and ethical guidelines to maintain a fair and competitive sourcing process
  • Conduct meetings with plant personnel and suppliers to resolve any supply, service, or support issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
