About The Position

The Innovation and Strategy Intern will have the opportunity to develop valuable skills in project management, strategic planning, and creative problem-solving for real-world challenges in the disability services space. This role will blend contributions from multiple team members and stakeholders. Hands-on work in the innovation and strategy department will provide valuable exposure to strategic initiatives, project scoping, resource allocation, relationship building, change management, and design while making a meaningful impact on individuals and communities. For the summer of 2026, the intern will help re-envision a program for adults with disabilities by enhancing accessibility and inventing engaging experiences that meet the diverse needs of participants.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an associate, bachelors, masters, doctoral degree or a recent graduate.
  • Commitment to a full 10-week internship duration.
  • Ability to work in-person in Silver Spring, MD.
  • Must live in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia area for the duration of the internship (Please note we are unable to provide funding or assistance for housing during the internship. Interns are responsible for securing their own housing accommodations.)

Responsibilities

  • Apply creativity and technology to improve a program, assess existing workflows, or design content.
  • Attend a speaker series featuring professionals and thought leaders from diverse industries.
  • Engage in service-learning projects and give back to the community.
  • Build relationships with a career mentor and grow professional networks.
  • Contribute to a group capstone that directly impact the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Develop skills relating to essential business departments such as operations, innovation, nursing, development/fundraising, and program management.
