About The Position

ChristianaCare is a nonprofit health system dedicated to providing excellent health care by partnering with patients and their families. The Newark Hospital Imaging Department is seeking a CT Technologist for a Weekend Incentive Position (WIP) to work day/evening shifts, including 3 out of 4 weekends and every 3rd holiday. The primary function of this role is to perform all phases of CT Scan Testing on hospital in-patients and outpatients, adhering to established departmental procedures and protocols, and under the direction of a Radiologist. The position also involves performing other diagnostic imaging exams as skills permit, as well as clerical and scheduling duties.

Requirements

  • Completion of ARRT registry
  • ARRT registry in CT Scan required.
  • Licensed by State of Delaware on Radiation Protection
  • Completion of the CT Registry exam is a job requirement. A technologist, who is recruited and non-certified, will have a period of 2 years following hire to pass this exam.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of CT Scan Testing.
  • Perform other diagnostic imaging exams as skills permit.
  • Perform clerical and scheduling duties as needed.
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of CT Scanner Units.
  • Complete all technical assigned imaging and non-imaging procedures in the designated scheduled times.
  • Verify insurance pre-authorization as defined by departmental protocols prior to scanning patient.
  • Assist in the learning process of students and new staff in department procedures, quality control, and radiation safety.
  • Administer all contrast media under physician’s supervision.
  • Assess patient for adverse reactions and/or changes in patient status.
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge and proficiency in the use of contrast media injectors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform i-STAT testing and accurate calculation of GFR following established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development.
  • Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
