About The Position

The Cat Medical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all medical care needs for cats within the rescue. This role ensures that every cat receives appropriate veterinary care, fosters are supported and informed, and medical documentation is maintained accurately. The Cat Medical Coordinator works closely with the Cat Coordinator, veterinary partners, and foster families to streamline communication, organize appointments, and ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Experience with cat handling, veterinary care, or fostering preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to respond clearly and compassionately.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple cases at once.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, fosters, and vet partners.
  • Must be comfortable monitoring health changes and reporting concerns quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all veterinary appointments for cats in care, including routine exams, vaccines, spay/neuter, specialty visits, and follow-up rechecks.
  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar of appointments and ensure cats arrive with necessary information and medical history.
  • Communicate with veterinary clinics regarding treatment plans, records, prescriptions, and medical recommendations.
  • Monitor ongoing medical treatments and ensure instructions are followed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for foster families regarding medical questions or needs.
  • Communicate medication instructions, aftercare protocols, and health monitoring expectations clearly and promptly.
  • Follow up regularly with fosters to ensure cats are progressing well and no concerns are missed.
  • Provide education and resources to fosters regarding common conditions, medication administration, isolation needs, etc.
  • Maintain accurate medical files for each cat, including vaccines, exam notes, treatment plans, photos, and progress updates.
  • Track medical status and ensure that all necessary care is completed before adoption.
  • Update internal systems and communicate status changes to the Cat Coordinator and adoption teams.
  • Work closely with the Cat Coordinator to discuss current cases, urgent needs, and scheduling priorities.
  • Communicate regularly with veterinarians regarding medical plans, concerns, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in medical decision-making discussions when appropriate.
