About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the WCC Director, this position will provide academic support to Ashland University graduate students across the disciplines on any assignment that involves communication. The successful candidate will serve as a graduate consultant with expertise in composition, rhetoric, research practices, public speaking, and productive skills, synchronously and asynchronously.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English literature, composition, rhetoric, linguistics, education, communication, or a related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Working knowledge of Word processing, presentation software applications, and video conferencing applications
  • Having professional experience writing and revising/editing the work of others

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working one-on-one with college students
  • Scholarly writing and research experience
  • Prior teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide constructive feedback on ideas, outlines and drafts for any project that involves communication whether that communication is written, visual, verbal, digital, or a combination of mediums.
  • Provide help with improving organization and structure.
  • Provide feedback to improve word flow, clarity and readability.
  • Provide feedback on APA , MLA , Chicago/Turabian, or any other formal style guidelines, including in-text citation and documentation.
  • Provide feedback on grammar, syntax and mechanics.
  • Provide thoughtful, respectful and sensitive work with graduate students with a range of abilities and concerns.
  • Complete other tasks related to WCC support as assigned.
