About The Position

Title: Supervisor, Casting Department: Casting Type: Full Time Other: Manager II, Production Reports to: Manager I, Production Status: Exempt Salary Range: Per Experience Direct reports 30 ~ 45 Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are located in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide. Tasks and Responsibilities : This supervisory position is responsible for overseeing manufacturing efforts in the production of quality products for use in automotive or power sport vehicles

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Safety first mind set and encourages safety first attitude everyday
  • Ensuring daily counts are complete and accurate
  • Understanding previous shifts DT and production issues
  • BPS Board updates and reporting – accurate hourly progress (# of parts, DT minutes, quality losses)
  • Working overtime as and when needed to supply customer parts
  • Placing manpower where needed based on needs of the customers needs
  • Training of new line leaders to the standard based on job description
  • Ensuring daily production targets are met and reporting missed targets and why
  • Actively engaged in daily line issues – reporting
  • Effective communication to all levels of management
  • Ability to develop solutions to most problems effectively and efficiently
  • Attendance below 1 point to set example
  • Timely and accurate coaching and counseling of line leaders and associates when it is required
  • Scheduling of manpower via Paycom for weekend overtime – when needed
  • Gathering information and “5 WHY” reporting when customer issues arise
  • When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
  • Promotes a safety first attitude and provides safe work environment by obtaining knowledge, training associates, and then following all required OSHA regulations which may or may not include: Personal Protective Equipment, LOTO, Crane, Powered Lifts, Machine Guarding, Chemicals, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Incident reporting, Respirator, Hearing conservation, Confined Spaces, and others.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure safe and clean working conditions.
  • Correct unsafe work conditions immediately.
  • Complete incident reports as soon as possible when incidents occur
  • Leads the team to ensure the “in process” and the “final” product meets customer and Astemo Rock Spring quality specifications.
  • Ensures that work instructions, point cards are followed and communicates appropriately and immediately when quality issues occur.
  • Promotes STOP, CALL, WAIT mentality to all line leaders and associates
  • Utilizes BPS boards to communicate quality problems effectively
  • Responsible for completing the planned production quantities as required by leading the team toward the goal.
  • Responsible for collecting and completing all shift paperwork for assigned line(s) correctly and accurately
  • Helping run lines through breaks and lunches as needed based on shipment needs
  • Responsible for reporting all assembly related issues daily
  • Achieves the planned production quantities as required by: Communicating issues to the supervisor immediately if it cannot be resolved.
  • Following work instructions and ensuring co-workers follow instructions.
  • Working as a team and promoting teamwork.
  • Preventing interruptions to workflow and productivity.
  • Suggesting improvements to productivity, quality, safety etc.
  • Working as part of line rotation when needed
  • Reports safety incidents or near misses, issues with equipment or quality concerns, and workflow interruptions.
  • Complete necessary shift and production tracking paperwork.
  • Completion of BPS Boards hourly and accurately – reporting as required
  • Investigation and completion of “5 WHY” reports when customer issues occur – presentation to management
