About The Position

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our team at Stop and Shop Supermarket. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while accurately processing transactions. As a Cashier, you will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers by ensuring smooth and efficient checkout operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred but not required.
• Strong cash handling skills with attention to detail in processing transactions.
• Basic math skills for accurate cash register operations.
• Proficiency in using cash registers or POS systems is a plus.
• Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone.

• Strong communication skills with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions with accuracy.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries.
• Process sales transactions quickly and efficiently using the POS system.
• Maintain knowledge of current promotions, products, and services to effectively upsell items to customers.
• Stock shelves and ensure that the sales floor is organized and well-presented.
• Perform basic math calculations to ensure accurate cash handling and register balancing at the end of shifts.
• Demonstrate products when necessary to enhance customer understanding and satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier area and surrounding space.
• Adhere to company policies regarding cash handling, returns, and exchanges.
