About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Cashier to support front-end operations in a fast-paced hardware and lumber yard environment. This role is critical in creating a positive first and last impression for our customers, including contractors, builders, and DIY homeowners. Full-time availability Monday through Saturday is required.

Requirements

Previous cashier or retail experience preferred (hardware experience a plus)
Strong customer service and communication skills
Comfortable working with contractors and jobsite professionals
Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with hardware, tools, lumber, or building materials
Understanding of contractor accounts or charge sales
Experience in a lumber yard or building supply environment

Responsibilities

Greet all customers promptly and professionally
Accurately process transactions including cash, credit, and account sales
Handle contractor accounts, charge sales, and receipts with attention to detail
Assist customers with basic product questions (tools, hardware, fasteners, materials)
Communicate clearly with yard staff and departments for pickups and special orders
Direct customers to appropriate departments (lumber, tools, paint, etc.)
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked front counter area
Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policy
Balance cash drawer and ensure accuracy at shift start and end
Support front-end merchandising (impulse items, fasteners, seasonal items)
Assist with answering phones and routing calls as needed
