About The Position

Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults, 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA, to serve older adults with Christ-like love.

The Cashier is charged with accurately checking out clients including residents, team members and visitors. The Cashier is tasked with operating the cash register, credit card machine, and point of sale system. The cashier is also tasked with assisting the servers with dining services, restocking the cold cases, paper products, and nonperishable items.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have knowledge of/experience in the following:

Proficient in technology and systems management - Office Suite (Google and/or Microsoft), Point of Sale System
Customer-focused professional - known for delivering warm, attentive, and solution-oriented service to clients and team members
Building trust and credibility - Showcase the ability to build rapport quickly, establishing and maintaining productive and trusted relationships
Organized and detail oriented – strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently

Responsibilities

• Will take orders from customers on computer, and will operate cash register, credit card machine, and point of sale system
• Will complete daily cleaning tasks in the cafe
• Appropriately label open food items, and dispose of expired food items in a timely manner
• Provide warm greetings to customers as they arrive
• Take customers’ orders as needed
