To ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost’s internal and external customers. To check out and assist customers while meeting objectives for accuracy and speed.

  • Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
  • Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.
  • Check out customer’s purchases quickly and accurately, using correct prices, codes and departments.
  • Ensure 100% cash register accuracy and ensure all payment transactions are completed with efficiency and precision.
  • Bag groceries and ask customers if they need any further assistance.
  • End the customer transaction with a pleasant farewell such as “thank you for shopping at Outpost” or “have a nice day.”
  • Call for back up on registers when needed.
  • Become familiar with co-op policies and products in order to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to front end manager, supervisory staff, or customer service.
  • Be familiar with Outpost’s owner policy to answer owner related questions. Refer customers interested in joining the co-op to the customer service desk.
  • Follow proper procedures in balancing cash drawer at end of shift.
  • Follow security procedures in handling drawers, pick-ups, potential shoplifters, and quick change artists.
  • Maintain front end area in a clean, organized, and orderly condition.
  • Clean register and put shop backs away at end of shift.
  • Advise front end manager of equipment/ replacement needs.
  • During slow times, take initiative to stock items or ask for assignments from the front end manager or supervisory staff.
  • Attend department meetings as scheduled.
  • Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
  • Keep store/office orderly and clean.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by department manager or supervisory staff.
