Responsibilities

  • Greet customers at the cashier window in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Compute customer bills.
  • Receive cash, checks and credit card payments from customers; records amount received.
  • Make change and issue receipts to customers.
  • Provide refunds or credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise or as directed by managers.
  • Reconcile cash drawer daily.
  • Work with department managers to keep abreast of new products and services offered, their features and value, and any changes in price.
  • Answer customer questions about service performed or products purchased, or refer them to someone who can.
  • Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise and, when necessary, refers dissatisfied customers to the appropriate individuals for resolution.
  • Reconcile gas purchase statements.
  • Provide clerical and secretarial assistance to departments as needed.
  • Act as backup to switchboard operator.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Keep the work area neat and clean.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
