About The Position

Out of the Closet Thrift Store (OTC) was founded in 1990 to help raise funds and awareness for AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF). When customers shop or donate at Out of the Closet, 96 cents of every dollar made goes to AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s HIV prevention and treatment services. OTC is also able to offer high-quality HIV testing services at all of its locations, allowing customers to give back to their community and make a real difference in the fight against HIV and AIDS. An OTC cashier contributes to AHF's mission by presenting a friendly, helpful face to shoppers, donors, people seeking testing or pharmacy patrons. Within their duties of ringing up sales and answering customers’ questions, this position has the opportunity to give stand out service that enhances the reputation of AHF and encourages customers to return and recommend the store to others. Precision in the handling of cash and credit purchases protects AHF and maximizes the revenue from the store. The cashier can enhance the experience of other OTC employees by being friendly and helpful and by offering to give them a helping hand when they need it. Additionally, giving feedback to their manager about how service could be improved allows the team member to enhance their contribution. The cashier adds consistent value to the OTC Team by adapting to various situations with ease and by being flexible.
