About The Position

Dining Services at Madison College is seeking a Cashier to support front-of-house operations by providing point-of-sale and customer service assistance. All front-of-house team members will be cross-trained, including the Cashier and all team members will support multiple FOH areas as needed. Success in this role requires delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The Cashier, contributes to a welcoming and inclusive experience for students and guests, supports efficient dining operations, and upholds established health and safety standards. This part-time position is scheduled for 25 hours per week, 38 weeks per year during the Fall and Spring academic semesters August through May. Flexible working hours between 7:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Requirements

  • Knowledge of retail sales operations such as operating a point-of-sale system food handling and sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Ability to accurately handle financial transactions, reconcile cash drawers and maintain financial records.
  • Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service and resolve concerns.
  • High School or equivalent additional work experience
  • 0-2 years of relevant working experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Responsibilities

  • Processes financial transactions by handling payments, recording sales, reconciling cash drawers and completing daily financial reports to maintain accurate transactions.
  • Delivers customer service by assisting customers with purchases and responds to inquiries to ensure effective fulfillment of orders at our Madison College Cafeteria and/or Starbucks FOH areas.
  • Ensure secure and efficient operations by performing opening and closing procedures, verifying cash transactions and assisting with health and safety standards
  • Supports equipment functionality by performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance on food service equipment to support effective resource stewardship and operational excellence.
