About The Position
As a Cashier at Allocco Bay Road Grocery Store, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring smooth operations at the checkout area. Your primary responsibility will be to greet customers as they enter the store, creating a welcoming atmosphere. You will handle various payment methods, including cash, checks, credit cards, vouchers, and automatic debits, ensuring accurate and efficient transactions. Additionally, you will assist customers in locating products within the store, enhancing their shopping experience. Maintaining a clean and orderly checkout area is essential, and you will be responsible for general cleaning duties, such as mopping floors, emptying trash cans, and ensuring the parking lot is presentable. You will also calculate total payments received during your shift and reconcile these amounts with total sales, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions. At the beginning of each shift, you will count the money in the cash drawer to confirm that the amounts are correct and that there is sufficient change available. Handling New York State Lotto transactions will also be part of your duties, requiring attention to detail and adherence to regulations. Furthermore, you will assist with store opening and closing duties, contributing to the overall efficiency of store operations. This position is crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction and supporting the store's daily functions.
