About The Position
As a Cashier/Checker at Fred Meyer, you will play a crucial role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane. You will be the face of the store, actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers to ensure they feel welcome, important, and appreciated. This position requires a strong commitment to the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others. In addition to processing transactions, you will need to understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various payment methods including cash, checks, credit, debit, and government assistance programs like SNAP EBT and WIC. You will also be responsible for adhering to company policies regarding cash handling, restricted sale items, and reporting any pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator. It is essential to stay informed about current promotions, seasonal ads, and special offers to provide accurate information to customers. Safety is a top priority at Fred Meyer, and you will be expected to comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines. You will also reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management of any issues. Preventive maintenance is key, so you will need to inspect equipment regularly and report any items in need of repair.
