About The Position
As a Cashier/Checker at Kroger, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane. You will be the face of the store, actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers to ensure they feel welcome, important, and appreciated. This position requires a strong commitment to the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return to the store. In addition to processing transactions, you will need to understand and effectively use the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various payment methods such as cash, checks, credit, debit, and SNAP EBT. You will be expected to adhere to company policies regarding cash shortages and overages, as well as guidelines for restricted sale items like alcohol and tobacco. Reporting pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and staying current with seasonal and special ads will also be part of your duties. Safety is paramount in this role, and you will be required to comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines. You will reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management of any issues. Preventive maintenance is also part of your responsibilities, as you will need to inspect equipment and report any items in need of repair. Overall, your role as a Cashier/Checker is crucial in helping Kroger fulfill its mission to feed the human spirit by providing exceptional service and a welcoming environment for all customers.
