PURPOSE Under direct supervision, greets incoming customers in a pleasant and professional manner. Processes payment of customer purchases at retail locations. Counts money to verify amounts and issues receipts for funds received using a cash register
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and six (6) months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong customer service skills both face-to-face and telephone
- Working knowledge in the use and operation of a cash register
- Good mathematical aptitude
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be detailed oriented
Responsibilities
- Greets customers and receives payment; issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers; package customer purchases; thanks customers for their business.
- Acknowledges incoming customers in a pleasant manner and provides product information, location, and general store knowledge. Directs customer to product pick-up point, if necessary.
- Opens and closes-out till and accurately documents all transactions, makes accurate change, verifies credit cards and checks, and balances receipts.
- Provides prompt and efficient telephone service.
- Keeps work area clean and neat.
- Assists in pricing and stocking inventory, display preparation and maintenance, and maintains quality store presentation.
- Participates in annual physical inventory activities.
- Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
