About The Position

The Cashier/Grocery Clerk position generally has a balance between cashiering and working in the grocery department. They provide excellent, professional customer service. They stock and rotate grocery, dairy, frozen and bulk items. The Cashier/Grocery Clerk may also assist other departments. Requirements

Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
Available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, mid-day shifts and weekends
Must demonstrate basic math skills and proficiency at 10-key
Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills
Must be able to meet physical demands including standing, bending, twisting, repetitivemotion, and lifting 10-40lbs regularly
A current Food Worker Card from the Washington State Department of Health is required
Must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

Previous retail or public customer contact experience desired; background in cashiering or retail grocery industry preferred

Responsibilities

Models and provides excellent, professional customer service
Accurately and efficiently scans and keys items into register
Receives and processes all payments according to PCC standards
Performs basic math skills and proficient at 10-key
Communicates effectively about PCC's membership and programs
Handles merchandise returns
Bags groceries according to PCC bagging guidelines
Maintains an orderly appearance at the register
Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
Assists in grocery department operations, including training and guidance of grocery staff, ordering, productivity, and inventory as assigned by Grocery Coordinator and Grocery Lead
Stocks grocery displays with attention to quantity, quality, timeliness, appearance of displays, and merchandising plan
Handles price changes and signage, including ad change
Fills in for Receiving, Night Crew, Dairy, and Beer & Wine departments when needed
Helps maintain integrity of organic standards for the bulk department
