The City of Aurora is looking for a dedicated Cashier and Gate Attendant to join our team! As the first point of contact for our visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere, whether you are assisting with watercraft rentals or greeting citizens at our entry stations. This position offers a unique balance of professional customer service and hands-on activity in a variety of weather conditions, ranging from sunny lakeside days to brisk mornings. Weekends and holidays are a standard part of this schedule. The starting hiring rate for this role is $17.00/hour. This is classified as a Seasonal position where the selected candidates' length of employment will not exceed six (6) consecutive months and can work up to 40 hours a week. This position does not provide medical benefits. The selected applicant(s) will undergo the following conditions: Background Check (if over 18) Position overview: The City of Aurora is seeking a Cashier and Gate Attendant who will focus on customer service duties including greeting visitors and performing specialized duties at assigned daily duty stations. These duties will include entry station cashiering, boat rental operations, light cleaning, maintenance, and clerical assistance. Provides support and assistance to City employees, citizens and a variety of other customers.

Requirements

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • None
  • 1 year of cashiering and/or clerical experience including customer service experience handling complaint calls.
  • Experience operating and maintaining watercraft.
  • General knowledge of cash register use
  • Knowledge of computers and related word processing software applications.
  • Skill in the use of cash registers and credit card machines
  • Skill in the use of personal computers including accurately and efficiently processing information using a keyboard.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate typical office equipment.
  • A driver’s license with a good driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Operates boat rental including assisting guests fill out rental contracts and waivers
  • Operates the launches and landings of various watercraft types
  • Instructs guests on proper use of watercraft
  • Assists customers as they enter
  • Sells reservoir passes
  • Operates point of sale system and performs cash reconciliation
  • Follows established Cash Handling Policies and Procedures
  • Inputs pass records data
  • Answers and directs questions and inquiries by telephone or in person
  • Cleaning and light maintenance duties of duty stations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
