About The Position

This is a merit hire position. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Dauphin County Department of Mental Health, Autism, and Developmental Programs is currently accepting applications for the full-time, second shift (3 PM- 11 PM) Caseworker 1 position. Due to departmental needs, staff may be required to work different shifts than their assigned shift, including nights and weekends. The Caseworker 1 provides immediate response to a wide variety of life crisis situations for individuals in Dauphin County within a 24-hour emergency Crisis Intervention program. This is an entry level professional position. The work assigned is limited in scope and difficulty and is performed under close supervision. As knowledge and skills are acquired, more latitude in judgement and decision making is permitted. Work is performed under the close supervision of a professional social service or administrative supervisor and is reviewed through individual and group conferences, assignment of professional reading, attendance at training programs, and the reading of case records and reports. The second shift (3 PM-11 PM) offers a potential $.70 shift differential. This amount is subject to change. In addition to the above stated hourly rate, this position may be subject to a retention bonus following one (1) full year of employment. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING: A bachelor’s degree in a human services major such as sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
