This temporary position is located at 2950 Village Drive, Suite 201, Fayetteville, NC, 28304- Cumberland County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). Associate will work with DSB VR Staff in the implementation and service delivery of pre-employment transition services to qualifying students with visual impairments, blindness, or deaf blindness. This position will provide service delivery, outreach, marketing, and documentation of services rendered for VIB PRE-ETS clients throughout the various stages of the vocational rehabilitation process. This position will focus efforts on areas of the state that do not presently offer an MOU with local school systems. This position covers the following counties: Bladen, Columbus, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson, and Scotland County. Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed in the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline relative to the program served from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in an area related to program that provides experience in techniques of casework or counseling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Basic knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment.
  • Working knowledge of basic social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to specific casework, group work, and community problems.
  • Working knowledge of governmental, non-profit, and private organizations and resources in the community.
  • Skill in motivational interviewing.
  • Skill in record keeping.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and their families, care providers, staff, and various community organizations.
  • Ability to plan and execute work assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and/or volunteers.
