About The Position

ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision. This is a Full-Time, direct service position in the Appleton Residential Services Program (RSP). This person is responsible for providing case management services to adult female clients in the program. The areas of service include intake and assessment, case plan development and evaluation, cognitive behavioral skill building, employment readiness, independent living skills, money management assistance, education and training assistance, referral to community resources and follow-up, and adherence to rules and regulations. Reviews referrals, oversees intakes, orientation, and assessments. Performs individual case management sessions with residents. Facilitates cognitive behavioral groups and a house meeting for clients. Provides support, guidance, intervention, and services to residents. Provides appropriate incentives to clients to strengthen their skill building. Investigates incident reports and dispenses appropriate discipline to clients. Prepares regular client log entries for DOC clients in the electronic record system. Coordinates and approves client discharges per set policy and procedures. Prepares weekly updates and monthly client reports for DOC. Writes client discharge summaries and termination reports. Performs urinalysis testing and breathalyzers as needed. Communicates and consults with other staff regarding client progress. Assists in ensuring all DHS 83, DHS 75.53 licensing and procedure codes are in place and adhered to. Fosters interaction and referrals to collateral contacts regarding client employment/family/significant other/treatment/educators Ensures all contract requirements are met including the DOC statement of deliverables. Ensures compliance with PREA regulations. Ensures adherence to appropriate emergency, safety and security procedures are implemented/followed by staff and clients. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.
  • Counseling, group facilitation and case management experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with correctional clients and utilizing cognitive behavioral methodology.
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to interact with staff, clients, and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and self-motivation.
  • High level organizational, time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Able to work an on call schedule every six weeks
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record for two years.
  • Experience enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of automated computer systems and Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Due to our client population, candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.
