Summary: A responsible individual, who possesses knowledge about substance abuse and mental health under professional supervision, is capable of directing and motivating clients towards abstinence and sobriety through specific avenues of treatment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus must be working towards an Associate Degree.
  • Two years’ experience working with substance abusers in a residential setting preferred.
  • Ability to work with diverse population.
  • A familiarity with Twelve Step Program.
  • Working experience at least one year.

  • All Residential Support Staff Employees MUST show proof of CPR Certification within 60 days of official start date.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriate and creative social skills to plan activities and supervise residents.
  • Performs treatment planning related task including coordinating appointments and placements and following up with clients.
  • Coordinate the link between clients and community providers.
  • Conducts individual case management and group sessions which may include education and training.
  • Participate in admission and discharge process of residents.
  • Provides transportation to clients as necessary.
  • Responsible for clients and the facility safety and security.
  • Substance abuse screening with the appropriate follow up discipline.
  • Act as a role model for the community.
  • May supervise resident meal preparation, clean up and daily chores.
  • May supervise resident self-administration of medication
  • Maintain confidential progress notes and other documentation on client activity.
  • Capable of responding appropriately to emergencies and incidents as they happen.
  • Perform another related task as directed.
  • Must be awake and alert during shift hours.
