The Case Manager is responsible for assisting the Crisis Assessment Response Education (CARE) Team and supporting the coordination of the management of cases. The CARE team collects, manages, and resolves emerging student matters regarding students of concern, who may be disruptive and/or present a significant danger to themselves or others in the university community. This role contributes to a positive university experience for every student, and is accountable to all Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) Values. The DoSA values are Excellence, Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity, and Respect. The Case Manager is responsible for the initial investigation, follow up and support of the decisions made by the team regarding students of concern. Responsibilities include meeting with students, maintaining student records, and updating both databases and websites related to the CARE team. The Case Manager is responsible for handling emergent, walk in issues to the Dean of Students Office (as outlined below). A component of this position is also training to the broader Temple community on the CARE team functions; including how and what to report. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Counseling Psychology or related field
  • At least 2 years of directly related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work collaboratively with people exhibiting mental health crises and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and ability to think independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to manage and resolve issues appropriately and expeditiously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and establish trust with a wide variety of constituencies and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Clery reporting requirements, FERPA, Title IX, and relevant state and federal laws and policies impacting college students and higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management functions and database entry.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Counseling Psychology or related field.
  • Experience in a higher education setting, particularly in the Dean of Students' Office, experience in Student Affairs.
