About The Position

JVS is seeking a full-time Case Manager at our East Orange location. This role involves delivering individual and group case management and job development services. It is important to note that this is a grant-funded position. Applicants should possess a comprehensive understanding of immigration and refugee policies and procedures. A client-centric approach is paramount to the success of this program. Ideal candidates will demonstrate familiarity with the local community, including the job market and social service structure. Strong verbal, writing, and computer skills are essential, along with proficiency in handling required paperwork and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years’ experience working with refugees or immigrants.
  • Knowledge of Essex County, especially social service resources

  • Fluent in Haitian-Creole (not required but preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Document all client interactions, services provided, and referrals made in the ClientTrack database in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct community outreach to identify and engage eligible clients in need of services.
  • Provide direct case management services including monitoring client progress, providing ongoing support, and connecting clients to various community resources.
  • Provide case management for approximately 80-100 clients annually
  • Provide eligibility screening, detailed intake and orientation, financial self-sufficiency assessments, and English assessments for clients
  • Maintain client files and databases; keep client case notes up to date
  • Work with grant funder and county welfare to coordinate services and referrals
  • Work directly with clients to address issues related to self-sufficiency; research local resources and provide information and referrals to clients
  • Assist clients with forms as needed
  • Prepare and submit online applications for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid as needed.
  • Promote JVS services in the local community
  • Perform other duties consistent with Education & Literacy department needs and not calling for materially different skills.
