About The Position

YWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA GLA) is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. YWCA GLA provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity. Position Overview The Case Manager will work closely with the clinical team, providing case management services for survivors, their loved ones, and groups. This includes assessment and implementation of a case management treatment plan for clients. This position ensures the integration of case management services into various aspects of intervention services including the 24-hour hotline, advocacy, and accompaniment. This position will also provide community education and outreach to the community. All job duties related to this position are implemented through activities that address violence against women and survivors of all genders from diverse cultural backgrounds. Activities are planned within the scope of the mission of the YWCA GLA. Our programs serve survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, who may be navigating complex trauma such as: current or former incarceration, recovering from substance use, experiencing homelessness, system-impacted, chronic abuse, exploitation, community violence, and intersecting barriers to safety and stability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social work, or related field and/or three years paid experience providing case management services to victims of violence
  • California Certification for Domestic Violence Advocate training. Current certification required or must be obtained as a condition of continued employment
  • Ability to work with individuals who have experienced sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, and/or gender-based violence
  • Advanced experience in speaking in front of diverse audiences and the ability to adapt materials quickly so that an audience understands
  • Extensive knowledge of resources in Los Angeles County
  • Computer literate, with experience in Microsoft Office, case tracking systems and other key programs necessary to perform the requirements of the position
  • Must have a valid CA driver's license and required car insurance
  • Attitude toward work that is flexible, cooperative, positive and dependable

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support services to participants including information and referral, crisis intervention, advocacy, and accompaniment
  • Provide information on how to report gender-based violence to law enforcement and access the criminal justice system, civil justice system and campus adjudication system
  • Provide trauma-informed therapeutic intervention with active listening, empathy, and emotional support
  • Assess the immediate need of clients and provide crises linkages
  • Interface with victim witness assistance program to coordinate client access to victim compensation funds
  • Link participants to essential resources including and not limited to medical, dental, DPSS, Medi-Cal, SSI, court, school, work and law enforcement
  • Assist in the recruitment of program participants and represent the Association in the community
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Assist in the development of promotional materials to publicize the program and promote the mission of the YWCA GLA
