About the position

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a dedicated Case Manager for Child Support Services in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This full-time position involves managing complex case management tasks to assist parents with paternity, medical support establishment, and modification of support orders. The role emphasizes building relationships with parents to facilitate cooperation with Child Support services, ensuring the financial and emotional support of children. The position offers a hybrid work opportunity after training, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex case management for parents regarding paternity, medical support establishment, and modification of support orders.
  • Manage an assigned caseload, prioritizing tasks to meet performance goals and deadlines.
  • Communicate with community partners including human service agencies, employers, and attorneys to achieve Child Support Program goals.
  • Build strong relationships with parents to encourage cooperation with Child Support services.
  • Analyze complex case situations and legal scenarios to determine appropriate actions for support establishment and maintenance.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office programs proficiently and learn other computerized systems as needed.
  • Comply with confidentiality provisions in the Code of Iowa.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in any field and one year of full-time public contact work experience.
  • A total of three years of education and/or full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college coursework equals one year of experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time public contact work.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work with Child Support Services.

  • Experience in customer service, including de-escalation of conflictual situations.
  • Ability to adapt to work pressures and changing situations.
