About The Position

The Case Manager provides case management for the Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) and Refugee Social Services (RSS program clients; facilitates intake and assessment of need; ensures clients are enrolled in employability and/or ELL programs, as prescribed by the RCA and RSS grant programs; facilitates information and referral to services, benefits agency-wide, within the greater community and conducts follow-up on referrals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work degree.
  • Experience providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
  • Experience working with immigrant communities and clients who have experienced significant trauma.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey institutions and social service systems.
  • Experience providing client advocacy, especially in the area of public benefits and housing, and with NJ agencies and systems, including the Division of Child Protection & Permanency and Immigration advocacy-related organizations.
  • Ability to learn and navigate database systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated passion for social justice and commitment to working with low-income communities and communities of color to advance equality; experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team is strongly preferred
  • Experience organizing and presenting workshops.
  • Ability to perform outreach and collaborate with community leaders.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s license and use of own vehicle for self-transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ongoing methods for client outreach and receiving clients from referring agencies.
  • Assist clients, including information and referral, advocacy, and translation/interpretation services. Identify needed community resources and establish methods for inter-agency collaboration and referral.
  • Disseminate information about the program to various community groups to ensure adequate client awareness of existing services.
  • Act as a liaison with other GBCA Divisions and programs to facilitate client access to the full range of GBCA services.
  • Maintain client records and program performance statistics and prepare compliance reports as required by the funding agency and GBCA.
  • Follow up on referrals and keep case notes on each referral made.
  • Is responsible for data entry and reporting monthly and/or quarterly.
  • Maintain and add to an active list of resources in the community.
  • Participate in community outreach events as scheduled.
  • Respect and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
