About The Position

The Matching Grant Case Manager will provide support to new refugees and other ORR eligible populations served by the USCRI – Houston’s Field Office. Through the provision of direct services, the Matching Grant Case Manager will help clients achieve self-sufficiency within 180 to 240 days of program eligibility through supporting them in overcoming employment and social integration barriers. This position reports to the Senior Field Office Director.

Requirements

• High School degree required; undergraduate degree preferred;
• Experience in case management or social work preferred;
• Bilingual/multi-lingual preferred.
• Ability to work as a team member and independently, with high level of self-motivation;
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail, troubleshoot, and follow projects through without loss of attention to detail;
• Ability to work independently as well as be a team player;
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office;
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on an as needed basis;
• Must have a valid State issued driver's license, insurance, clean driving record and personal transportation;

• Dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with housing, utilities, food, transportation, health and medical needs.
• Assess client needs and develop personalized self-sufficiency plan to address barriers and work with clients to set and achieve goals for initial and long-term resettlement.
• Maintain accurate documentation and tracking client progress.
• Maintain case files, submit written reports as required;
• Provide cross-cultural information, orient refugee families to their new community, and ensure a smooth process of resettlement;
• Work to connect clients with supportive community networks and support systems to ensure their long-term integration in the community;
• Attend stakeholder meetings and work with community partners to learn about resources for refugees and make referrals when needed
• Ensure that refugees are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner and provide education and advocacy when necessary; and
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
