About The Position

Under general direction, coordinate and supports services provided to students, their families and staff at Phoenix Rising Alternative School by performing the following duties. All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Act as a liaison between probation, intake and Phoenix Rising School. • Develop a comprehensive assessment for each student to identify needs and strengths. • Implement best practices programs for students, their families and staff to create a positive learning environment. • Examples of activities can include; support groups for students, community mentoring, and parent support groups, community service projects, participation in community events. • Referral and collaboration with community services for students and their families such as; substance abuse treatment, mental health services, crisis intervention, community mentoring. • Provide and coordinate with school staff additional needs and services to support the learning environment. • Provide comprehensive family assessment to identify specific needs and strengths. • Coordinate, link and become the liaison for families to receive appropriate services within the community. • Serve as the liaison between school and court. • Provide on-going, current status on referred students and their families to the court system. • Provide advocacy and crisis management services to referred families. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Knowledge of community resources; of evidence-based, best practices model programs and interventions appropriate to students and families; and of working with representatives of the educational system.
  • Ability to work with and maintain positive relationships with representatives of service providers within context of court referral services; to establish professional relationships and connections with students, families and staff to promote a positive learning environment; and to work with representative from local educational systems.
  • Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in sociology or a closely related field of study; and over three years satisfactory full-time paid employment in social work, juvenile work or a related field; experience working with at-risk youth and families in a community setting desirable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Valid OK Driver’s License possessed for at least 6 months.
  • Defensive Driving through Tulsa County within 6 months of hired.
