About The Position

The Case Manager I Early Childhood Support for Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington Migration and Refugee Services Program assists refugee children in all applicable geographical areas under the Virginia Refugee Student Achievement Project. This role is responsible for performing and maintaining support services for refugee children from age 0-5 and their parents in their resettlement and integration in the United States. This role supports families in resource acquisition in collaboration with other resettlement program case managers.

Requirements

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Flexible to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to represent Catholic Charities/MRS at conferences, trainings, and meetings in the community.
  • Willingness to uphold Catholic social teaching in the workplace.
  • Ability to create cooperative and positive relationship with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and procedures, comply with processes, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow.
  • Associate degree with 3-5 years’ experience required or bachelor’s degree in social services field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a culturally diverse environment, 2 years refugee resettlement preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of area Public Schools and early childhood resources
  • Valid US driver’s license with 3 years of licensed driving in the US, good driving record. Willing to drive clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide families with orientation to the Head Start program and other early childhood enrichment resources.
  • Enroll children in Head Start program and other early childhood educational activities.
  • Complete intake interviews to determine eligibility of families for services.
  • Provide language-appropriate resources and refer parents to available resources in the community.
  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive plan for parent engagement.
  • Develop community partnerships to address client needs and implement activities around parent training, and or support groups.
  • Establish and conduct effective outreach initiatives to identify resources.
  • Per Agency standard, collect and maintain all required records.
  • Make periodic home visits for families as needed.
  • Maintains regular contact and communication with service providers and parents.
  • Conduct collaboration meetings regarding Early Childhood Education.
  • Other job relevant duties as assigned.
