About The Position

The Early Childhood Teacher I supports an assigned classroom, working with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years. This role provides hands-on care and assistance to ensure each child’s safety, health, and well-being while promoting growth across cognitive, physical, social, and emotional domains. The Teacher I helps implement developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons, observes and supports children’s progress, and partners with families to encourage learning. Collaboration with lead teachers, other educators, and administrators is essential to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a H.S. diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 60 semester hours of Early Childhood Education at the college level, or experience working with young children in a child care setting required.
  • Must have or obtain the following trainings within 3 months of employment: Infant & Child First Aid & CPR, Common Childhood Communicable Disease, Recognition and Prevention of Child Abuse.
  • Shall not have any convictions of child abuse or crimes involving moral turpitude.
  • Must have a fingerprint check by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in early childhood education or a closely related field, or Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with health, hygiene, and safety routines.
  • Support classroom management by modeling positive behaviors and encouraging self-confidence.
  • Help maintain classroom materials, learning centers, and shared spaces.
  • Assist in compliance with Ohio licensing rules and documentation requirements.
