Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services required.
  • One (1) year of experience in casework duties providing services to the Supervised Offender population.
  • Drivers license required.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
  • Ability to become certified in cognitive behavioral skills within sixty (60) days of being hired.
  • Substance abuse or domestic violence certification or the ability to become certified preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of case management, referral services, and interventions in both group and individual modalities.
  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Good presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Substance abuse or domestic violence certification or the ability to become certified preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of participant cases by administering the policies and procedures of the program as directed by the contracting agency and the Program Manager or Supervising Case Manager.
  • Meet with the Supervised Offender a minimum of once per week to review progress and ensure attendance at required programming activities.
  • Ensure efficient management of casework functions and monitor each Supervised Offender’s progress, recommending corrective measures when necessary.
  • Possess a broad, in-depth knowledge of the program modalities and services to ensure an appropriate match for the Supervised Offender.
  • Initiate and prepare the discharge/continuing care plan and forward documentation to the NJSPB or the agency responsible for the offenders’ supervision upon discharge.
  • Conduct risk/need assessments and create individual treatment plans for each assigned participant.
  • Conduct orientation meetings with new participants to explain program rules and regulations.
  • Set participant schedules and specify all approved activities based on sentencing information.
  • Collect participant fees on an ongoing basis when required and notify the Program Manager of delinquent fees.
  • Monitor participant compliance with alcohol and/or drug counseling when required.
  • Report all program violations to the appropriate agency or official via established reporting parameters.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and relay technical issues to the Program Manager for resolution.
  • Report on the status of program operations regularly to ensure all necessary documentation is prepared for court review.
  • Represent the company in contacts with elected officials and other public figures in the criminal justice system.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational/behavior modification groups each week and document participants’ attendance, participation, and progress.
  • Testify in court regarding participants’ compliance with court orders.
  • Screen participants at jail for entry into the program.
  • Learn and develop proficiency in Client Services Specialist’s duties to provide backup when necessary.
