About The Position

The Case Management Assistant at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth provides essential clerical support to Case Managers and Social Workers, facilitating discharge plans and related activities. This part-time role involves administrative tasks that ensure smooth operations within the Case Management Department, particularly in the absence of the department secretary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of job-related experience required.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Good public relations and clerical skills.
• Basic understanding of medical and insurance terminology.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to display professional interactions with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Ability to adapt to new situations and responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

• Previous data entry experience preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English required and Spanish preferred), both written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to Case Managers and Social Workers.
• Fax utilization clinical reviews to third-party payers.
• Monitor receipt and distribution of third-party payer requests and logs.
• Assist in locating appropriate facilities for patient placement.
• Facilitate transfers to alternate care facilities, including transport arrangements.
• Facilitate referrals for home care services.
• Provide backup administrative assistance to the department administrative assistant.
• Assist with providing patients with Medicare Important Message (IM) per policy.
• Follow up on insurance authorizations.
• Assist Case Management staff with clerical duties such as faxing and telephone support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
