About The Position

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a University Carpenter to join their Facilities team. This role involves applying trade expertise across a broad range of work, collaborating with other trades and facilities personnel to maintain campus standards. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position located on the main campus in Manchester, NH, and will report to the Carpentry Services Manager.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of commercial and/or residential carpentry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid operator/driver's license
  • Proficiency with power and hand tools and commitment to safe working practices, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Complete corrective and preventive maintenance work orders across campus buildings and facilities
  • Install and repair windows, doors, and door hardware
  • Frame walls using both metal and wood construction methods
  • Install sheetrock, apply joint compound, and perform interior finishing and painting
  • Repair and install ceiling grid systems and tiles
  • Maintain and repair building envelopes, including roofing systems (rubber membrane, asphalt shingle, metal, and slate)
  • Inspect roofs and perform leak repairs
  • Participate in snow removal operations, including equipment plowing, shoveling, salting walkways, and clearing roofs and scuppers
  • Participate in on-call maintenance emergency response on a rotating basis with other trades staff
  • Work outdoors in varied weather conditions and from heights (ladders, aerial lifts, and rooftops)
  • Participate in technical and Human Resources training
  • Take on additional maintenance responsibilities as the team's needs evolve
