About The Position

A member of the McCarthy-Bush family of companies, Clinton Engineering (CEC) is a full-service general contractor and recognized leader in construction for the Clinton Community and surrounding areas since 1926. Specializing in design-build, new construction, rehabilitation and renovation of commercial, industrial and municipal projects, CEC boasts a local, experienced workforce who self-perform in variety of trades from carpentry work to concrete paving, steel fabrication & erection, excavation and more. Clinton Engineering is looking for an experienced Carpenter. Whether you're in Davenport at our sister company, Linwood Mining & Minerals, onsite in an industrial setting in Muscatine, or working on various projects in the Clinton, IA area, you will be working within a 2-hour radius alongside a team to ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently. What can you expect in this role? Our Carpenters work to install structures and fixtures, construct building frameworks, and lead laborers and other construction helpers to complete work. An ideal candidate would have excellent multitasking and problem-solving capabilities. The Carpenter role also requires collaboration with managers, laborers and clients throughout the project process to ensure deadlines and expectations are met for both the company and the customer. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and knowledge of carpentry.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience and/or training in construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; industrial construction experience a plus
  • Proven ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals, project plans and specifications
  • Ability to perform math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, common fraction and decimals
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating a scissor lift, aerial manlift, telehandler, skid steer, and mini excavator is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Following blueprints and building plans to meet client needs
  • Install structures and fixtures such as windows, molding, cabinets, commercial steels doors and hardware
  • Measure, cut, and/or shape wood, plastic and other materials
  • Construct building frameworks, including truss setting, traditional and post framing, and steel stud framing
  • Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes
  • Collaborate with or direct laborers and other construction helpers
