The primary purpose of this unit is contract administration and engineering oversight of highway construction projects. This position performs technical work in support of higher-level technicians and engineers. Responsibilities include providing general office and computer support, with a focus on data entry and maintenance of project records in SAP and HiCAMS. The position is responsible for processing monthly and final estimates; verifying calculations; resolving discrepancies in pay records and material quantities; researching project documentation; processing material prepayments; tracking DBE participation; assisting with project meetings; and monitoring Technician Certifications to ensure they remain current. The employee must maintain effective communication with technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public, conveying information in a clear, concise, professional, and persuasive manner. The position requires the ability to work safely outdoors and in active construction environments, with potential hazards such as heights, highway traffic, and rough terrain. Moderate physical activity is required, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing, as well as lifting up to 50 pounds. A degree is not required to qualify for this position. Applicants with at least two years of related experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Ability to work safely outdoors and in active construction environments, with potential hazards such as heights, highway traffic, and rough terrain

  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems
