About The Position

Virgin Atlantic Cargo (VAC) is a £200m business connecting retailers, manufacturers and growers with customers around the world. As a business within a business, our global cargo teams are the driving force behind our commercial success, delivering exceptional service, building trusted partnerships, and maximising revenue opportunities. As Account Manager, you will lead the development, retention and growth of a customer portfolio across New York, New Jersey and key regional markets. This is an active selling role where relationship building is paramount - you'll be out meeting customers daily, uncovering new opportunities, and acting as the face and voice of Virgin Atlantic Cargo across a high-impact territory.

Requirements

  • A strong sales mindset and proven experience in a commercial, customer-facing role.
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving commercial environment.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to influence, engage and build trust quickly.
  • A self-starter mentality with the drive to be out on the road and proactively develop new opportunities.
  • Strong communication and commercial insight, using data to guide decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams including Operations, Revenue Management, Capacity and Sales Leadership.
  • The right to live and work in the US, with the ability to travel across regions to meet customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in airline cargo, freight forwarding or logistics would be a great to have
  • Experience in travel, hospitality or other customer-centric sectors is also welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key freight forwarders, shippers and commercial partners across NY & NJ.
  • CRM/Salesforce management and analysis of market data to identify new business opportunities
  • Conduct regular customer visits, with a minimum expectation of five in-person meetings per week.
  • Travel regionally (approx. 15-20% annually) to support markets including Chicago, Boston and Washington.
  • Develop tailored customer plans to retain business, win new opportunities and drive profitable revenue.
  • Use commercial insights, FAB data and performance trends to shape proposals and engage collaboratively with Revenue Management.
  • Identify dormant or low-volume accounts and re-establish strong Virgin Atlantic presence.
  • Build trusted, long-term relationships through consistent communication, problem solving and service excellence.
  • Partner closely with JFK Cargo Operations and internal teams to resolve issues, share insights and support service performance.
  • Represent Virgin Atlantic Cargo with professionalism, positivity and a hospitality-focused approach when delivering both good and challenging news.
