About The Position

Position Career: Technical Training Instructor, Substitute, On-Call Reports To: Career: Training Manager Department: Career Technical Training FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt Primary Position Objectives Teaches the basic principles and concepts of vocational skills to students. Ensures rigor and relevance of subjects taught. Collaborates with academic instructors in the delivery of applied academics. Position Responsibilities Administration Procedures Teaches the basic principles and concepts of vocational skills to students Maintains a high degree of discipline within classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning. Works with academic instructors in coordinating curriculum development and delivering applied academics. Uses all possible curricular resources available on Center. Ensures adequate classroom preparation. Ensures proper maintenance of student personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, attendance, incident reports, achievement awards and any other pertinent information concerning students, and at least weekly updates of TARS. Records and forwards daily attendance to the Records Department. Assists in the completion of students’ resume. Maintains building and equipment and ensures proper measures are taken for the care of equipment and supplies. Performs driving responsibilities and monitoring activities when needed. Endeavors to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation and participation. Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport. Participates in student performance evaluations as required or requested. Provides regular feedback to students regarding appropriate employability skills. Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices. Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures. Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Continuously helps students become more employable. Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Effective Communication Presents information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information. Very high standard of communication skills both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideas. Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend. Organization of Work Demonstrates the ability to handle several projects simultaneously. Implements the key principles of time management, task allocation and priority assignment in addition to personal organization. Continually seek ways to improve the service provided via development of professional skills and personal growth. Initiates and responds to suggestions for improving service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with disabilities to preform essential functions.
  • Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Experience Culinary Arts Instructor: Six years’ experience in food services
  • Health Occupations Instructions: Two years’ related experience
  • Construction Craft Laborer Instructor: Experience in construction and training
  • Security Instructor: Experience in security organization, military, or police field
  • Dental Assistant Instructor: Two years’ experience working as a dental assistant
  • Culinary Arts Instructor: High school diploma
  • Health Occupations Instructor: Valid practical nursing license
  • Security Instructor: High School Diploma
  • Dental Assistant Instructor: Certified in radiation health and safety (RHS) and infection control (ICE).
  • Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the Center is located, or is accredited by a professional trade organization.
  • For NTC, instructor must be certified by union or trade organization, or by a national trade certifying organization. (RO may waive if Center is unable to hire certified or licensed instructors, but candidates must pursue certification.)
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction Craft Laborer Instructor: Prefer national center for construction education research (NCCER) instructor certification
  • Dental Assistant Instructor: Prefer certified dental assistant (CDA) certification.
