About The Position

Cybersecurity/Networking Instructor Cybersecurity/Networking Instructor The Career & Technology Center (CTC) at Fort Osage is accepting applications for a Cybersecurity/Networking Instructor beginning in August of 2026. Our instructors work 183 days per school year, from August to the end of May. Each member of our CTC staff receives five additional paid contracted days to set up the classroom and complete career and technical education certification requirements. Starting salary is $51,480, but ranges based on years of experience in the Information Technology field. All CTC teachers start on column E of the certificated salary scale. Each full year of industry experience OR prior teaching experience will be counted on our salary schedule. Stipends for work outside of the school day to guide students in Career and Technical Organizations (Skills USA) are also available. Opportunities to coach robotics or E-Sports are available as well. The Cybersecurity Networking teacher will perform duties related to student success by utilizing classroom and laboratory instruction, industry certification preparation, work-based learning, internships and Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s). Instruction and curriculum are utilized through the Cisco Networking Academy Network and other curriculum resources/initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3 years of work experience in the Information Technology profession
  • Current Missouri Career & Technical Education teaching certificate. If the candidate does not hold a current Missouri Career & Technical Education teaching certification, certification coursework will need to be completed within three years.
  • Current industry-recognized certifications in hardware, software and networking or the ability to earn these certifications within the first year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field
  • Knowledge and experience in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or Information Security
  • Current industry recognized certifications in Cisco Certified Network, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft MTA Network Fundamentals
  • Experience with online learning management systems or alternative instructional delivery systems
  • Course and program development in networking and/or cybersecurity

Responsibilities

  • Administers subject specific assessment and test for the purpose of assessing the level of students' competencies.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  • Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
  • Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
  • Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Instructs students for the purpose of meeting State and National Standards.
  • Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. field trips, classroom, IDLH atmospheres, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Responds to inquires from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
