About The Position

As a North Tech Diesel Technology Teacher, you will teach and support high school students as they explore careers in diesel service. Using your industry experience, you will guide students in developing technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness aligned to industry standards. Through instruction grounded in the approved curriculum, you will help students build the skills needed to work with diesel engines and heavy equipment and prepare for success in the diesel service workforce. Through engaging, hands-on instruction, you will evaluate student progress, create an industry-appropriate learning environment, and connect learning to real-world application. By developing industry partnerships and supporting student internships, you will help students gain relevant experience and take meaningful steps toward careers and postsecondary opportunities in diesel technology.

Requirements

  • Six thousand (6,000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to three (3) years of full-time experience; OR
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five thousand (5,000) hours of closely related occupational experience within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two and a half (2.5) years of full-time experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and four thousand (4,000) hours of closely related occupational experience obtained within the past ten (10) years. This roughly equates to two (2) years of full-time experience.
  • Apply for career and technical education certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and complete up to 18 college credit hours to obtain a Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate; required
