About The Position

Career Technical - Veterinary Science Teacher for 2026-2027 school year PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The instructor will be responsible for the Veterinary Science program at Stebbins High School, a new program starting in 2026-2027. The instructor will provide instructional activities that are consistent with the objectives of the Veterinary Science program. The instructor will prepare and conduct lessons for related and laboratory classes from the Animal Science & Management pathway, as identified in the Ohio Agricultural Content Standards. The instructor will guide the learning experiences of the students, including skill development, human relations, and leadership qualities, which are essential for obtaining gainful employment in this career field. The FFA or OHSA Career Tech Student Organization is part of the curriculum, and the instructor will be expected to guide the program.

Requirements

  • Must meet all the requirements governing teacher education and licensure.
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or Certified Veterinary Tech
  • Must hold or qualify for certification/licensure in Animal Science, Agriscience, Animal Production, Production Agriculture, or Agribusiness
  • Knowledge of the job market for Animal Scientists, Veterinarians, Animal Caretakers, Veterinary Techs, and other Veterinary Science occupations.
  • Must hold proper licensure per the Ohio Department of Education
  • Must pass BCI and FBI fingerprint checks
  • The successful candidate must possess the willingness to enroll and satisfactorily complete the Ohio's Career Technical Licensure program offered by Bowling Green State University. This program requires 24 credits in career teacher preparation. Or Modified Licensure Pathway 9 Credit Hours of Specific University coursework and 45-hour Professional Development program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily educational objectives and experiences related to your career field.
  • Supervise and manage all lab activities.
  • Participate in school-wide programs and activities.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians of assigned students.
  • Maintain records regarding student progress.
  • Provide a variety of instructional experiences for all students.
  • Facilitate relationships with industry partners and Sinclair Community College.
  • Design and implement real-world applications for the Veterinary Science students.
  • Recruitment of students into the Veterinary Science program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • serving as the FFA or OHSA advisor and participating in events and activities.
