About The Position

Position Summary: The Career Navigator – Exiting Homelessness provides services in Hennepin County to people experiencing and exiting homelessness. This is an opportunity to join a fun and supportive team helping individuals exit homelessness through employment services. Career Navigators help individuals with job search, work experience, career training, and placement/retention. Partners include the Office of Workforce Development in Hennepin County and various community organizations who provide similar services. We are looking for a high-energy person with experience and passion serving the homeless population, building rapport with participants/clients, creating relationships with external business partners, and experience helping people to find competitive employment or training services. Day in the life : In a typical day, a Career Navigator can expect to... Career Navigation Services : Provide job placement assistance and career counseling resulting in optimal employment outcomes for individuals served. Case Management Coordination : Ensure that seamless and comprehensive services are delivered to the individual providing coordinated service options and resources to meet their needs resulting in positive outcomes for individuals served. Serve as the main contact and coordinator for the individual and other involved partners, persons or agencies. Documentation : Maintains complete, accurate and timely documentation of individuals served by following established applicable procedures, guidelines, funder requirements, and laws. Organize and report essential caseload information on a regular basis to support program and organizational goals.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software and the ability to accurately enter data into computer based systems.
  • This role requires a motor vehicle record (MVR) check(no major violations, not more than two (2) minor violations, and not more than one (1) accident in the past three years), and the ability to meet GESMN's authorized driver requirements, including:
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have proof of auto insurance with a minimum of $300,000 combined limit for bodily injury and property damage coverage. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Relevant Experience required (1-3 years)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
