Watch to learn more Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director and lead by Assistant Director of Employer Engagement, will act in a lead role in working with employers planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of events connecting students with employment opportunities on behalf of the Career Development Center. A key focus of this role is to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with employers, fostering job development. In addition, this role manages the technical and complex aspects of the Career Services Manager system used by employers, students and staff to promote career services and increased employment outcomes for students. Furthermore, this position is responsible for providing services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life, retention, and graduation rate. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts. Requirements

  • Equivalent to bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience required.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to set priorities, establish goals, and conduct long-range planning, with prior experience coordinating and administering programs.
  • They will communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population and possess strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, administrators, community members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • The candidate will be proficient in word processing, database management, spreadsheets, Career Services Management Systems, and Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • They will work collaboratively within a team, exercise sound time management and independent judgment, proactively manage complex and evolving information, and analyze problems to develop effective solutions.
  • The ideal candidate will handle confidential matters with tact and professionalism, consistently report to work prepared to perform duties, contribute to a safe and inclusive higher education environment, and foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and civic engagement.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
  • Valid CA Driver's License required in order to occasionally drive to employer events and meetings, pick up/deliver materials for meetings. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving Course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

  • Two years of experience working with programs that serve a diverse student population, low-income first generation, international, veterans and other underrepresented or educationally disadvantaged student groups.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, develop and implement all administrative policies and procedures necessary for the implementation of program goals, objectives and actions plans for Career Development Center year-round sponsored career events. (i.e. Job Fairs, Recruitment events, On-Campus Interviews, Information Sessions).
  • Initiate, promote and maintain relationships with employers who provide internships, and jobs for CSULB students.
  • Cultivate employer relations by communicating regularly and serve as liaison between employers and students including contacting employers by telephone, mail, and in-person and virtual visits to encourage their use of the Career Development Center and career employment services offered.
  • Lead the development and use of the Career Services Management tool as an operational tool for the Career Center and campus at large.
  • Coordinate and make recommendations for updates to the system to positively impact student, faculty and employer user experience.
  • Serve on campus committees in representation of the Career Development Center.
