About The Position

National Able Network has an immediate opportunity for a service-oriented professional who will assist job seekers with employment. National Able Network® is a mission-driven nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to workforce development, training, and economic opportunity for individuals and communities throughout the Midwest. Our work is grounded in partnership, accountability, and a belief that strong systems and strong people together create lasting impact. The Career Coach works with a team to deliver employment services including assessing barriers to employment and employment goals, delivering effective training and support, referring to outside agencies for other services, providing job search assistance, connecting to job leads, and supporting retention. The Career Coach will coordinate with internal departments and outside agencies to provide the supports job seekers need to find and maintain sustainable employment. Coaches maintain accurate, timely and complete documentation for all job seekers.

Requirements

  • Strong service-orientation and interpersonal skills; develops rapport and works successfully with a diverse population of job seekers, co-workers, and others
  • Good attention to detail to ensure job seekers’ get the resources they need to overcome barriers to employment
  • Experience in social services, case management, counseling, or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports job seekers by assessing their barriers to employment and providing resources and referrals to help overcome those barriers.
  • Tracks and supports clients’ progress in training and job search activities and writes case notes and documentation regularly.
  • Administers appropriate testing to assess client job readiness needs, career interests and barriers to employment. Develops an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) and action steps for achieving IEP goals. Monitors progress to goals, modifies and updates IEP with job seekers as needed.
  • Determines supportive service needs and advises clients on all social services for which they are eligible; may refer clients with special needs to internal staff and/or external resources as appropriate.
  • Works with the business development team to connect job seekers to job leads, hiring events and employer contacts.
  • Assesses, maintains and submits accurate, timely and complete case notes and documentation. Processes requests for training and supportive services in a timely manner.
  • Supports the organization’s outreach efforts by participating in events and attending workshops.
  • Attends regular professional development (both internal and external) to stay abreast of changes in job search and labor market.
  • Other duties as assigned
