About The Position

The TalentSource Career Coach manages delivery of career navigation and coaching services to currently enrolled students of The Excel Center and Indianapolis Metropolitan High School. The Career Coach may also serve mission participants and education alumni, as needed, to support their continued education and career growth post-Goodwill services. This role will also cultivate new and maintain current partnerships with employers in the communities they serve in order to become familiar with local labor market workforce needs. The Career Coach will design and implement “crosswalk activities” that help students engage with local employers to better identify where their own personal talents, skills and credentials overlap and align with careers available in their community. The Career Coach works with minimal supervision and relies on self-direction, intrinsic motivation, and solid time management skills with support from team members and supervisors in order to establish daily, weekly and semester goals aligned with the overall organizational and strategic goals of Goodwill.

Knowledgeable of career education and workforce development programs, and local community resources/employers.
Utilizes labor market information to determine local labor market demand.
Has worked assisting people with career development plans that have resulted in an improved employment situation.
Has working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office.
Is proficient in the use of Zoom and Google Meet.
Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs.
Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
Adept at scheduling, coordinating, and managing productive meetings of large and small groups; professionally manages conflict and commitment; ensures follow-through of participants.

All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check.
Must have a valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record.
Available to travel to school locations, employer sites, and community organizations in a multi-county territory on a regular basis while maintaining a hybrid work environment without direct supervision.

Ideally, has provided career coaching to high school students and/or adults in a nontraditional education setting.
Prior Caseworthy and applicant tracking systems knowledge is an additional plus.
Maintains and grows a professional network of community resources, health care providers, employers, and others as appropriate to the organization.

Responsibilities

Supports a defined territory, with specified schools within the Goodwill Education Initiatives network and the alumni and mission participants within that region.
Coordinates on a regular basis and works with school teams to integrate and bolster career coaching and navigation services into existing career and postsecondary advising systems and activities.
Builds relationships and programs to ensure that each student graduates with a realistic career plan that is connected to their career and postsecondary goals, enhanced by classroom and workplace engagement from local business and industry professionals.
Provides direct career and labor market advising to students as they near graduation which includes self-awareness (interests, talents, aspirations), career exploration, taking steps to build and leverage professional networks, and identification of/enrollment in industry-recognized certification courses and/or dual-credit college courses aligned with career aspirations.
Develops and maintains an industry-based network of community partners, employer partners, and training partners aligned with local workforce needs and student, alumni, and participant career interests.
Leverages community/employer/training partnerships in ways that allow students, alumni, and participants to gain insight into potential careers and engage in workplace experiences including job shadows, workplace tours/field trips, lunch and learn sessions, internships, etc.
Maintains a presence in certification classes, senior capstone presentations, and mock interviewing events to increase awareness and continuously build awareness of TalentSource career and alumni services.
Provides job-search assistance to alumni who respond to recruitment activities (i.e. post-graduation surveys, TalentSource Job Alerts) and other individuals referred to TalentSource for employment support.
Supports candidate recruitment activities by connecting with motivated candidates (using email-based and web-based strategies as well as in-person and virtual events) to learn about their skills, match them to job opportunities and develop pathways to help them achieve career goals.
Provides group and/or individual career coaching to students and graduates to support job readiness, provide knowledge of labor market needs and employment opportunities, and assist in applying to/interviewing for new/better careers with Goodwill’s employer partners.
Measure, assess, and report the impact of Career Coaching services to demonstrate how services provided address milestones and activities of the Indiana Career Coaching and Navigation Framework (Commission for Higher Education, February 2024).
