About The Position

The Career Coach plays a key role in recruiting prospective students to Northcentral Technical College (NTC). This position involved building relationships with K12 schools, community partners, and local employers while providing individual support for career exploration, application assistance, and financial aid guidance. The Career Coach leads and participates in recruitment events, coordinates career development initiatives, and engages students to foster connections with NTC. The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, continuous professional development, and active participation in promoting NTC’s programs and services. Position may support projects across Student Services and other areas of the College to advance institutional goals and student success. While the regular schedule follows standard business hours, flexibility is required for occasional evening, weekend, or travel to other locations based on college events or operational needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (or Equivalent)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, customer service, or enrollment services, preferably in a higher education or K12 setting.
  • Strong customer service and case management skills.
  • Ability to foster positive interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Strong active listening skills with the ability to discern key information and respond professionally.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and working effectively with individuals in educational, professional, or community settings.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented, multi-task, and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, reports and emails; speak and may present information to groups.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions; solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications.
  • Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.
  • Valid Driver’s license with the ability to meet NTC’s insurance carrier standards and pass a motor vehicle background check to travel to area schools and events.

Responsibilities

  • Adult + K12 Recruitment Serve as a primary contact for prospective students, assisting with career exploration, applications, and initial steps such as -FAFSA. This work is done on site at NTC campuses and at local high schools. Regular travel is required. Provide individual educational planning services and make appropriate referrals. Assess individual needs of area high schools to provide career and post-secondary planning services to support Academic and Career Planning (ACP) initiatives. Develop, promote, and coordinate services for students in NTC’s district schools. Respond to prospective student inquiries via email, phone, text, chat, maintaining ongoing follow-up and support.
  • Campus + Community Events Lead and participate in recruitment activities such as campus tours, open houses, Preview Days, education fairs, career fairs, and other specialized events.
  • Specialized Projects/Initiatives Additional activities may include development of career development initiatives, additional time supporting on-campus events, engagement with admitted students and their parents/guardians, and focusing on regional community needs. These activities will be assigned to individual team members. Position may support projects across Student Services and other areas of the College to advance institutional goals and student success.   • Professional Development + Continuous Improvement Stay informed about NTC programs, admissions, financial aid, and services. Provide input on recruitment best practices and share new ideas. Document and track interactions with prospective students and outreach activities, maintaining records in Workday CRM. Participate in training and professional development opportunities
